The Proustian Paradox 2014
30 text pieces This work consists of 30 text pieces which are designed to recall a memory in the viewer. Not every one of the 30 will be successful for every viewer although there are enough so that at least one should be successful for everyone who reads and understands them. They are paradoxical in the sense that they produce involuntary memories by inducing memories. The work is inspired by Marcel Proust and Fluxus art like work by Yoko Ono and Lawrence Weiner. The art itself will appear in the mind of the viewer as they read it through episodic memory and semantic memory if there is a connection formed between the phrases and pat memories experienced by the viewer. |
